Mozart Festival

Wednesday, 19 June 2013
The 23rd Mozart Festival will begin on 20 June in Warsaw. For the first time in history, this year’s programme will present eleven rather than all of Mozart’s operas as in previous festivals. Together with concerts, there will be around 40 music events.
“Jerzy Lach, the new director of the Warsaw Chamber Opera, puts this down to financial reasons. This year the Mozart Festival has a budget of 1.5 million zloty, which is a million less than in the crisis-ridden year of 2012,” writes Jacek Marczyński (Rzeczpospolita, 19 June 2013)
Highlights of the festival include the premiere of “Cosi fan tutte" directed by Marek Weiss and an outdoor performance of “Don Giovanni" prepared by Jerzy Lach. The opera will be performed at the Wilanów Palace courtyard.
