Children’s day with Beethoven Academy Orchestra: Beethoven and... Jerzy Stuhr!

Thursday, 8 May 2008

Children’s day with Beethoven Academy Orchestra has become a traditional event in Kraków, promoting high culture among children. The orchestra performed before the youngest public in the previous years in the district of Kazimierz, at the Music School in ul. Basztowa, and in the Kraków Philharmonic. This year’s fifth jubilee edition takes it to the district of Nowa Huta.
The concert for children is also a part of a project that the Beethoven Academy Orchestra conducts throughout the current season, namely the “B9” series of concerts, whose main objective is to present the greatest symphonic works by Ludwig van Beethoven – all his symphonies – especially for the music lovers of Małopolska. Well thought-out and carefully selected repertoire for every concert, Michał Dworzyński as a conductor, and the best Polish performers – laureates of international competitions, will ensure the highest artistic level of the series.
On the first of June, the orchestra shall present Ludwig van Beethoven’s 6th Symphony – “Pastoral”. Its rustic climate and the restrictive character will definitely attract the interest of the young audience. In the latter part of the concert, they will have an opportunity to hear the captivating Hungarian Rhapsody for cello and orchestra, Op. 68, by David Popper (arranged by Paweł Sydor) performed by a young cellist Łukasz Pawlikowski, and the Symphonic Tale Peter and the Wolf by Sergei Prokofiev with recitatives by the famous actor, Jerzy Stuhr. The entire project promises are fantastic musical feast both for young music lovers and the adults accompanying them.
