Mísia to visit Kraków

Invited by Ludwig van Beethoven Association, Mísia, the brightest star of fado is staying in Kraków from 28th to 31st August. The artist will perform concerts in Poland in March 2010 within the14th Ludwig van Beethoven Festival.
Originating in Portugal, fado is frequently compared to American blues. It is a fusion of various influences and traditions brimming with nostalgia and melancholy, Recognised and worthy follower of the legendary Amalia Rodriguez, queen of the genre who made fado famous beyond the borders of Portugal in the 1970s and 1980s, the artist assumed as her artistic pseudonym the name of a Pole, Misia Godebska: an intriguing figure among Parisian bohemians, a friend to Coco Chanel and Proust and muse to Picasso.
The project with participation of Mísia prepared to the order of the Ludwig van Beethoven Association bears the working title “Frédéric Chopin – interpretations”. Besides the appearance by the Portuguese star, the plans include performances by Polish and foreign artists representing various musical genres.
