Thursday, 25 February 2010
The latest disc recorded by Artur Ruciński, and published by the Polish Radio and Ludwig van Beethoven Association, was nominated to the Fryderyk 2010 Award in the category Album of the Year – Vocal Recital. The awards will be presented on 19th April – in the Polski Theatre (pop music categories), and in the Salesian Basilica (classical and jazz music categories).
The recording includes songs by Mieczysław Karłowicz and arias from Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s operas Eugene Onegin and The Queen of Spades, Richard Wagner’s Tannhäuser, Charles Gounod’s, Faust, and Giuseppe Verdi’s Don Carlos, all performed by Artur Ruciński.
It was the artist himself who selected material for the disc, while the recording itself is the product of many years of cooperation between Artur Ruciński with Łukasz Borowicz and Polish Radio Orchestra.
The album is a musical portrait of the consummate soloists and at the same time an attraction for all the enthusiasts of the works of Mieczysław Karłowicz – an eminent Polish composer, whose centenary of death is observed this year.
The recording holds the recommendation from Polish Radio 2, and Ludwig van Beethoven Association extending its patronage over young eminent Polish artists.
