Kammerorchesterbasel with Giovanni Antonini were awarded the ECHO Klassik in the category Best Orchestra 2008.

Basel, 23rd of June 2008. The kammerorchesterbasel was awarded the title of orchestra of the year 2008 in the category Ensembles/Orchestras for the recording of Beethoven's 3rd and 4th symphonies under the baton of Giovanni Antonini.
The Kruger media agency in Berlin informed that further prize winners include, among others, Cecilia Bartoli, Philippe Jaroussky und José Carreras, Nigel Kennedy, David Garrett, Annette Dasch and Christian Zacharias. This year the prize will be awarded to 49 artists in 20 different categories. The award ceremony will take place on the 19th of October at the Münchener Philharmonie im Gasteig. The German television channel ZDF will broadcast the event at 22.00 of the same evening.
The German Phono Akademie, the cultural institute of the German association of the music industry awards the Echo Klassik prize for the 15th time. The award honours the best recording of the year. A jury selects the winners.
Giovanni Antonini and the kammerorchesterbasel will continue the Beethoven Cycle next season with the recording of the 5th and the 6th Symphony. The orchestra will be on tour in Munich, Zürich, Vienna, Berlin, Paris, Valencia and Warsaw among other cities, and soloists such as Viktoria Mullova, Katia und Marielle Labèque, Patricia Petibon, Emmanuel Pahud or Dejan Lazic will perform in their various projects.
