The events commemorating the 5th anniversary of establishing Ludwig van Beethoven Association are continuing at the National Philharmonic Hall. Ian Yungwook Yoo, laureate of last year’s International Piano Competition in Bonn performed a piano recital on Tuesday, 18th November.

The ceremony of awarding Krzysztof Penderecki with the honorary doctorate will be held at the Academy of Music in Gdańsk on Thursday, 6th November and will be the crowning of the Academy’s jubilee celebrations. The concert following the formal session of the Academy’s Senate will be conducted by Maestro Penderecki

Christoph Eschenbach assumed the post of the Musical Director of National Symphonic Orchestra in Washington and the Director of John F. Kennedy Centre.
“Christoph Eschenbach is one of the greatest musicians of the world”, said Rita Shapiro, the Executive Director of the National Symphonic Orchestra.

It is the third time that master courses have been organised as a part of Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival. This year they will be conducted by Teresa Berganza, one of the brightest stars of the 20th-century opera. In the previous years of the festival, vocal master classes were conducted by Ileana Cotrubas (2007) and Christa Ludwig (2008).

The International Festivals & Events Association (IFEA) granted five Grand Pinnacle awards to Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival during the annual conference of the Federation that continues in the United States. The Grand Pinnacle Awards Ceremony took place on Wednesday, 10th September, at Boise, the capital of Idaho.

The 53rd Conference of the International Festivals & Events Association (IFEA) has begun. Later during the event, the Grand Pinnacle Awards will be conferred, this year in 61 categories. Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival is competing for 10 of the statues, including the most prestigious one, the IFEA/Haas & Wilkerson Pinnacle Award.

Agata Szymczewska, a consummate Polish violinist, winner of the 1st Prize in latest Henryk Wieniawski Competition, will perform the Violin concerto No. 1 by Karol Szymanowski at the prestigious Berwaldhallen in Stockholm at 7:30pm on 26th August.
