Alexander Liebreich

Alexander Liebreich was born in 1968 in Regensburg, where he initially studied Romance languages and musicology at the university and led his Regensburg Chamber Choir. He continued studies at the Higher School of Music and Theatre in München which he graduated with honours in 1996 (conducting and vocal studies), he was also the assistant of Sir Colin Davis and Roberto Abbado at the Bavarian State Opera and attended master classes conducted by Myung-Whung Chung and Ilya Musin. He won the Kondraschin Conducting Competition (1996) and he became assistant of Edo de Waart at Radio Filharmonisch Orkest Holland. One year later he led a series of concerts of Bruckner Symphony No. 5 at Concertgebouw in Amsterdam which was enthusiastically received by audience and critics alike. He made guest appearances as a conductor with the Concertgebouw-Orchester in Amsterdam, Radio Filharmonisch Orkest Hilversum, Orchestre National de Belgique, BBC-Symphony-Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Orchestre National de Montpellier, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and Auckland Philharmonia. In 2005 he made his début with Münchner Philharmoniker in a concert “Klassik am Odeonsplatz”, which delighted critics and audience and one year later he led the orchestra in three subscription concerts with works by Kancheli and Prokofiev.
Alexander Liebreich in the 2006/2007 season became artistic director and principal conductor of Münchener Kammerorchester.
