Łukasz Borowicz, who was born in 1977, completed his conducting studies at the Academy of Music in Warszawa. In the 2000/2001 season he was Iván Fischer's assistant at the Budapest Festival Orchestra, from 2002 to 2005, Antoni Wit's at the National Philharmony, from 2005 to 2006 Kazimierz Kord's at the Teatr Wielki National Opera House where he made his debut as opera conductor in Mozart's Don Giovanni. At the time he cooperated with outstanding Polish singers including Ewa Podleś, Piotr Beczała, Mariusz Kwiecień. He won prizes at four conducting contests: Trento (1999), Athens (2000), Porto (2002) and Bamberg (2004). He has conducted the following orchestras: the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia, the Symphonic Orchestra of the Danish Radio, the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine, Bamberger Symphoniker,and Pomeriggi Musicali (Milan) as well as the majority of Polish symphonic orchestras (including the National Philharmonic Orchestra, the National Symphonic Orchestra of the Polish Radio, Sinfonia Varsovia). His recording of Schumann received the Fryderyk award in 2007. In January 2008 he was awarded the Paszport Polityki from the weekly magazine Polityka.
Since 2006 he has been the first guest conductor of the Poznań Philharmonics and since 2007 he has been the artistic director of the Polish Radio Orchestra in Warszawa.
