Braeunlich Hendrik

Born in Leipzig, he started playing the piano at the age of five. He then studied piano and coaching (vocal and instrumental) with Eugen Wangler at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy College of Music and Theatre in Leipzig, and, in 1994-1998, Lied accompaniment and chamber music with Karl Peter Kammerlander. He attended master classes and received additional instruction from Charles Spencer, Hartmut Höll, Jakob Lateiner, Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Peter Schreier and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. Since 1993, he has been teaching Lied accompanying and serving as solo répétiteur for singers at his Alma Mater. He won mant prizes for Lied accompaniment: at the Mendelssohn Competition in Berlin (1993), the 6th International Brahms Competition in Hamburg (1994), the 1st International Hilde Zadek Singing Competition in Passau (1998). In 1997, he was prize winner of the German Music Competition and was granted annual scholarships from the Young Artists´ Society of Germany. In collaboration with other young artists, he has appeared at important festivals and recorded CDs. Hendrik Braeunlich has been the official accompanist of the International Bach Competition in Leipzig, of the International Hilde Zadek Singing Competition in Passau, of the International Alexander Girardi Competition in Coburg and the International Robert Schumann Competition in Zwickau. He has also accompanied master classes for Christa Ludwig, Inge Borkh, Peter Schreier and Jakob Staempfli. He was invited to accompany clarinettist Alan Kay from the Juilliard School of Music (New York) for the Leipzig Summer Academy (2004) and accompanied and taught, together with Jeanette Favaro-Reuter, at the Royal College Of Music in London (2005).
