Szabolcs Brickner
After receiving a degree in both voice and clarinet at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest, Szabolcs Brickner (28) attended master classes at the Hochschule für Musik in Augsburg with Hans-Joachim Beyer and Edith Wiens, and took private lessons with Nicolai Gedda. After winning first prizes in 2 Hungarian singing competitions, the tenor won the 2nd prize at the 2004 Ferrucio Tagliavini International Singing Competition and 4 years later the first prize at the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition in Belgium.
The singer has appeared at the Hungarian State Opera House in the main tenor roles in operas by Mozart and Donizetti; he is also well known for his oratorio repertoire including the works of C.Ph.E. Bach, Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Kodály.
His future engagements include performances in Budapest in Gounod's and Tchaikovsky's operas; he will also go on a concert tour with La Petite Bande, and appear in Wiesbaden, Munich, Paris and Rotterdam.
