Fabrice Dalis studied singing, musicology and piano at the Conservatoire in Paris. During his studies, he took part in master classes taught by Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Kurt Moll, Waltraud Meier and Sena Jurinac. After his studies, he entered the opera studios of the Opéra Bastille and the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, then became member of the Theatre Freiburg and, eventually, the Opéra National de Lyon. In the 2002/3 season, Fabrice Dalis sang the title-role in Shostakovich’s The Nose at Deutsche Staatsoper in Berlin under the baton of Kent Nagano, and Alwa in a revival of Lulu under Michael Gielen. Under Ulf Schirmer, he sang Carl Orff’s Catulli Carmina and Trionfo di Afrodite as well as Frank Martin’s Pilate. Last season’s highlights include his debut as Paul in a new production of Korngold’s Tote Stadt at the Grand Théâtre de Genève and Alwa in the new production of Lulu at the Megaron in Athens. He appeared in Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis with the Bremer Philharmoniker under Ulf Schirmer. In the spring of 2005, he sang in Weill’s Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, Reggio Emilia and Bari, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 under Daniel Klajner in Würzburg. In the autumn of 2004, Fabrice Dalis, who is also a renowned performer of French and 20th-century repertoire, sang in the world premiere of Bruno Mantovani’s opera L’Autre Côté at the Opéra National du Rhin Strasbourg under the baton of Bernhard Kontarsky. He also gave concerts with the Orchestre National de Lille (conductor Nicolas Krueger).
