Stanisław Drzewiecki
At the age of six Stanislaw Drzewiecki went on his first concert tour to Japan, where, together with Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra conducted by Volker Schmidt-Gertenbach, he performed “First Children’s Piano Concerto” by Ilia Chkolnik, a Swiss composer. The following year witnessed his debut in Witold Lutosławski Polish Radio Concert Studio in Warsaw, where, together with Sinfonia Varsovia conducted by Grzegorz Nowak, he performed Haydn’s Concerto.
Since then he has performed in London (Victoria &Albert Museum), Vancouver (Queen Elisabeth Hall), Vienna (Schőnbrunn Palace ), Tallinn (Estonia Hall), Moscow (Grand Hall of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory), Copenhagen (Diamanten Hall), Porto (Palacio de Bolsa), Bergen (Philharmonic Grieg Hall), Paris, Brussels, and many others. He was on a concert tour in, Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany and Spain.
Stanislaw Drzewiecki inaugurated a concert season in Basel, 14th Festival of Music in Bydgoszcz, Days of Theatre and Music Festival in Poznan, Chopin Festival in Canada and in Austria, Festival “Europalia-Poland 2001” in Belgium, Festival de Radio France et de Montpellier, Denmark Radio Festival in Copenhagen.
At the age of ten, together with ‘Small Chamber Philharmonic’ conducted by Marcin Nalecz - Niesiolowski, he released his first CD (“Piano Concertos”). The subsequent two CD’s (“My First Gift” and “Chopin Piano Concerto & 12 Etudes”), as well as the first one, were nominated for a “Fryderyk Award” in 1998, 1999 and 2000. Moreover, Stanislaw Drzewiecki received a “Polityka” Newspaper Award in 2000, a Grand Prix Award in European Television Concert in Alicante (in 2000) and a 10th Eurovision Grand Prix for Young Musicians in Bergen (in 2001), which was viewed by 10 million people.
Recently this 14-year old musician has performed again with Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra in Bergen conducted by Philippe Jordan and with Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra conducted by José Cura. – the live coverage of the concert was given by NRK and the Polish Television.
In the spring of 2002, Stanislaw Drzewiecki signed a exclusive contract with the Sony Music Entertainment Company.
The artist’s repertoire includes eleven piano concertos, the performance of which was conducted by, M.Blaszczyk, T.Bugaj, B.Dawidow, A.Duczmal, J.Kosek, J. W.Michniewski, M.Pijarowski, J.Salwarowski , T.Strugala (Poland), A.E.Kaiser, B.Goetze, (Switzerland), J.Frantz (Germany) V.Zhadko(Ukraine), S.Young (Australia) and A.Hurgin, A.Podgorny, P.Kogan, L.Nicolayev (Russia)
Since 1995 he has been attending Karol Szymanowski Music School in Warsaw and specialising in the piano under professor Tatiana Shebanova’s supervision.
He is a holder of grants from the Ministry of Culture, as well as Ewa Czeszejko-Sochacka’s Foundation “ The Promotion of Talent”. The international telecommunication company NETIA – Telekom S.A. is a patron and sponsor of the young artist.
In January 2003 Stanislaw Drzewiecki made his sensational debut at the Carnegie Hall in New York. He received enthusiastic reactions of audience and musical critics.
