Choir and orchestra conductor, the founder of Warsaw Boys’ Choir
Krzysztof Kusiel - Moroz (born in 1965) graduated from the Faculty of Symphony and Opera Conducting at the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw in 1990 in the class of Prof. Stanisław Wisłocki. Since then he has been teaching conducting at the Academy and has been a conductor of the Boys' and Girls' Choir at the Academy. In 1994 he became a laureate of Witold Lutosławski Conducting Competition in Białystok.
Krzysztof Kusiel - Moroz conducts many concerts. He has conducted several Polish orchestras, among others the National Philharmonic Orchestra in Warsaw, the Philharmonic Orchestra in Bydgoszcz, Opole, Białystok and the Polish Radio Orchestra. He has appeared at WRATISLAVIA CANTANS International Festival four times (1997 - 2000). He has also performed in Germany (Darmstadt, 1995, Passau, 1996, Hamburg, Oldenburg, Bremen 1998, 2000), Benelux (Der Haag, Gouda, 1994, Antwerp, 1996, Luxembourg, 2000, France (Festival in La Chaise Dieu, 1998) and also in Japan (Tokyo, Yokohama, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Maebashi, Fukui, Nagoya, Osaka, 1999). Many of these concerts were broadcast on TV and radio.
Among the pieces he performed are Stabat Mater by G.B. Pergolesi, Nelsonmesse d-moll by J. Haydn, Mozart - Symphony g-moll KV 550, Divertimenti KV 136 and 137, Beethoven - 8th Symphony F - dur, Fantasia c - moll op. 80, opera "Fidelio" (fragments), S. Moniuszko - concert overture "Bajka", opera "Straszny Dwór" (The Haunted Manor) (fragments), R. Schumann - 4th Symphony d - moll, J. Brahms - 1st Symphony c-moll, H. Wieniawski - 2nd Violin Concerto d - moll. G. Faure' - Requiem op. 48, J. Rutter - Requiem, K. Penderecki - Passio secundum Lucam, Utrenia.
In the Warsaw Academy of Music Krzysztof Kusiel-Moroz has co-operated in realisation of such masterpieces as: I. Strawiński Psalm Symphony, G. Verdi Messa da Requiem, L. Van Beethoven 9th Symphony d - moll, C. Orff Carmina Burana.
Krzysztof Kusiel - Moroz is also a director of the Warsaw Boys' Choir at the Warsaw Academy of Music. The Choir has recorded many records (6 CDs). The last one (oratorio Star Child by G. Crumb) was awarded Grammy Award.
The artist has also composed several pieces, to mention only 2 symphonies, piano concerto, sinfonietta for strings, an oratorio "Pasja Polska", Agnus Dei and minor chamber and choir compositions.
