Laszczkowski Jacek

He learned to play the clarinet and then completed with honours his vocal training at the Academy of Music in Warsaw. He has twice received a scholarship grant of the Minister of Culture and the Arts. He made his debut at the stage of Warsaw Chamber Opera. Currently he is a soloist of the Opera and has over a dozen opera parts in his repertoire. His foreign debut was the performance in Don Pasquale by Donizetti in Vienna. In 1991, he received the 3rd prize at the international vocal competition in Vercelli (Italy). He took part in the first performance in England of Ermione opera by Rossini, which was held in Queen Elizabeth Hall in London and was transmitted by BBC Radio 3 (1992). He performed at Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, singing in the show entitled Semiramide, conducted by Roger Norrington, together with Cecilia Gasdia and Rockwell Blake (1994). In 1996, he made his debut the La Scala of Milan in The Gambler opera by Prokofiev. In the same year, he played the main part in the feature film for television entitled Dusza śpiewa (The Soul Sings) by K. Zanussi. He also took part in another film by the same director, Brat naszego Boga (Brother of Our God), shot on the basis of the drama by Karol Wojtyła (later John Paul II).
The artist keeps an intensive concert schedule, makes recordings for the radio and television, as well as disc recordings.
