Michel Lethiec
Eminent clarinettist Michel Lethiec performs as soloist and chamber musician. He has worked with such artists as A. Noras, L. Kavakos, G. Hoffmann, F. Helmerson, G. Sharon, R. Pasquier, H. Shaham, Y. Bashmet, P. Gallois, R. Gothoni, J.F. Heisser, J.C. Pennetier, V. Mendelssohn, P. Amoyal, J.J. Kantorow, P. Csaba, Y. Gandelsmann, I. Golan, and with quartets: Talich, Enesco, Artis, Amati, Prazak, Lindsay. He is a successful performer of contemporary music, including the work of Penderecki, Corigliano, Denisov. He teaches master classes in the Nice, Jerusalem, Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. He is a Professor of the Paris Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique and of the Conservatoire de Nice, and serves as Artistic Director at the Pablo Casals Festival.
He has recorded some 20 CDs, including two award-winning albums (Jovilet’s Asceses and Bartók’s Contrasts) for Lyrinx, Arion, RCA, Bis, Talent, Actes Sud. Recent recordings include Carter’s chamber music (with C. Désert, A. Noras, M. Bourgue, P. Gallois) and a Kurtag Trio (with V. Mendelssohn and C. Ivaldi). He also recorded three Penderecki concertos (with the Petersburg Camerata under K. Penderecki and E. Leducq), the concerto by Vanhall (Talent) and the Préludes et Danses by Lutosławski (Arion). He recently recorded the concertos by Baermann and Mendelssohn (Talent), the concerto by Maratka, the Duos by S. Giraud (with A. Noras), Auric, Honegger and Poulenc (with C. Ivaldi).
