Marquardt Markus

Despite quite young age, the German baritone, Markus Marquardt, is a notable concert and opera artist.

He was born in Düsseldorf, Germany in 1970. He studied singing at the Conservatory of his hometown with Werner Lechte. He received stipend for his studies and got first prize at the competition „Jugend musiziert”.Markus Marquardt has made guest appearances as an opera singer at the Salzburg Festival, Hamburger Staatsoper, Dresdner Semperoper, Staatsoper München and the opera houses of Amsterdam, Geneve and Graz. From 1996 to 2000 he was a member of the Staatsoper Stuttgart.Since 2000 the singer is a member of the Semperoper Dresden. His roles there are such as Leporello in Don Giovanni and Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro. A great personal success was his first Papageno in Die Zauberflöte.

The singer gave his debut as Masetto/Don Giovanni at the Grand Théâtre in Geneva and with the Doctor in Wozzeck at the Staatsoper Hamburg. At the Bregenz Festival he was heard as Colline in La Boheme. At the Staatsoper München he sang Polypheme in Acis and Galatea and later Harasta in Das schlaue Füchslein. In 2003 Markus Marquardt gave his debut as Baron Ochs in Der Rosenkavalier in Passau.
