Odinius Lothar

Lothar Odinius was born in Aachen. He studied voice with Prof. Anke Eggers at the Academy of the Arts in Berlin. He then participated in master classes with Ingrid Bjoner, Alfredo Kraus and several classes with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau.
In 2003 he will be heard as Ferrando in Mozart´s Così fan tutte at the Salzburg Mozart Weeks. He created the role of Ernesto in Haydn´s La vera costanza at the Haydn Festival in Eisenstadt under Adam Fischer (director: Philipp Himmelmann) in 2002 and was engaged by the Schwetzingen Festival (Bazzotto in Georg Benda´s Il buon marito). He sang the title role in Schubert´s Alfonso und Estrella under Nikolaus Harnoncourt at the Zürich Opera in 2001, followed by Stravinsky´s Pulcinella under Michael Christie. He also appeared as Arbace in Mozart´s Idomeneo under Adam Fischer at the National Theater in Mannheim. In 1999 and 2001 he sang the role of Lindbergh in Weill´s Lindberghflug at the Royal Danish Opera in Copenhagen. From 1995 to 1997 Lothar Odinius was engaged as lyric tenor at the State Theater in Braunschweig.
Numerous concert engagements have taken Lothar Odinius throughout Germany and Europe. In 2001 he sang Ferrando in Mozart´s Così fan tutte under András Schiff in Vicenza and at the Edinburgh Festival. In 2000 he made his debut in London´s Royal Albert Hall under Franz Welser-Möst (Schmidt: Das Buch mit Sieben Siegeln). He has also sung at the Oregon Bach Festival under Helmuth Rilling, as well as appearing at the Salzburg Festival, the Ludwigsburg Castle Festival, the Bad Hersfeld Festival, the BBC Proms and the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, performing with Philippe Herreweghe, Bruno Weil, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Claudio Abbado, Frieder Bernius, James Conlon, Ton Koopman, Thomas Hengelbrock, Salvador Mas Conde, Adam Fischer and Carl St. Clair.
Lothar Odinius has presented recitals at the Schubertiade Feldkirch, with WDR (Western German Broadcasting Corporation) in Cologne, in Paris, Dortmund, Lindau/Bodensee, Frankfurt, Lippstadt, Heidelberg and Hamburg.
