Patricia Kopatchinskaya comes from a musical family from Moldova. She studied composition and violin in Vienna and Bern. In 2000, she won the International Szeryng Competition in Mexico, the prestigious International Credit Suisse Group Young Artist Award in 2002, and, two years later, the New Talent – SPP Award of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
The artist has appeared as soloist with Philharmonia Orchestra, Vienna Philharmonic, SWR-Radiosymphonieorchester Stuttgart, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie, Bergen Philharmonic, Hungarian National Philharmonic, NHK Symphony Orchestra Tokyo, American Symphony Orchestra of New York, and with such conductors as Andrey Boreyko, Roy Goodman, Jürg Henneberger, Philippe Herreweghe, Mariss Jansons, Andrew Litton, Kirill Petrenko, Josep Pons, Heinrich Schiff, Stanisław Skrowaczewski. Her coming engagements include a debut with the Wiener Symphoniker (under Fedoseyev), the Finnish Radio Symphony (under Sakari Oramo) and Rotterdam Philharmonic.
