Wojciech Pławner was born on the 8th of October 1984 in Łódź. He began studying the violin at the age of six.
In May 1994 he achieved his first success getting the 2nd price in the Polish Janina Garścia - Competition for the first grade music schools’ violin students in Stalowa Wola, Poland. In December 1995 he received the 1st price in the 10th Competition for Young Violinist of the Łódź Region, and in May 1996 he took the 3rd place in the 3rd Polish Grażyna Bacewicz - Violin Competiton for the first grade music schools in Wrocław, Poland. In 1997 he got the Grand Prix in the Polish Competition for the first grade music schools’ violin students in Olsztyn. In the 4th Stanisław Serwaczyński - Competition for Young Violinists in Lublin, Poland, in April 1999 he took the 2nd place in the age group under 17. In year 2001 he was the winner of the Polish Competition for Violin and Viola Students of the second grade music schools in Elbląg, Poland, and he got the 2nd price in the International Louis Spohr Competition for Young Violinist in Weimar, Germany.
He took part in several polish and international music courses like Summer Music Academy in Żagań and International Music Courses in Lehrte, Łańcut, Gdańsk, Überlingen, and Weimar. He had therefore the opportunity to attend classes of famous professors such as Zenon Płoszaj, Hermann Krebbers, Sherban Lupu, Wolfgang Marschner, Igor Ozim, Christiane Hutcap, Marina Jaszwili, Krzysztof Węgrzyn, Mirosław Ławrynowicz, Barbara Górzyńska and Wanda Wiłkomirska.
Until the year 2002 he was a student of the Wieniawski School of Music in Łódź in Poland in the class of prof. Zenon Płoszaj. During the schoolyear 2002/2003 he attended the class of prof. Mirosław Ławrynowicz in Z.Brzewski Music Highschool in Warsaw, Poland. In 1997, 2000, 2001 and 2003 he received the Scholarship of Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, and during the years 2000-2003 the Scholarship of Polish Children’s Fund. In June 2003 he passed on the first place his entrance exams to the F.Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw, as well as Universität Mozarteum in Salzburg, where he is currently studying under guidance of prof. Igor Ozim.
In May 2004 he was awarded the Publikums Prize at Internationales Kärntner Sparkasse Musikstipendium in Velden in Austria, whereas in August 2004 he won the title “ESTA Student of The Year” awarded by the European Stringed Instruments Teachers Association at the Conference in Rotterdam. In September 2004 he received a special award for the best performance of a contemporary music piece at the 11th International Johannes Brahms competition in Pörtschach in Austria. In October this year he performed a Violin Concerto by J.Brahms in Liederhalle (Beethovensaal) in Stuttgart, with Schüler-Symphonie-Orchester Stuttgart. He also works with Mozarteum Orchester Salzburg.
