Julie Price read music at Manchester University, studying the bassoon at the Royal Northern College of Music with Edward Warren and William Waterhouse. Following her degree she studied in Geneva with Roger Birnstingl.
She has held Principal bassoon positions with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of theRoyal Opera House Covent Garden, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and now combines her role in the English Chamber Orchestra with that of the BBC Symphony Orchestra. In addition she has appeared as guest principal with all the major London Orchestras and he Chamber Orchestra of Europe. Her solo work includes recordings of the Mozart Concerto and Sinfonia Concertante and the Elgar Romance with the ECO and in the chamber music field she has wide experience with many groups including the Lindsay Quartet, Nash Ensemble, Endymion Ensemble and Haffner Wind Ensemble. She has been a professor at the Royal College of Music since 1998. She lives in Hertfordshire with her husband, young daughter and son.
