Rajski Wojciech

Wojciech Rajski is a graduate of the Music Academy in Warsaw where he studied conducting with Bogusław Madey (diploma with distinction). He then developed his skills in Cologne and Vienna. From 1971 to 1978, he was a conductor with the Grand Opera Theatre in Warsaw. In the years 1978-80, he served as Artistic Director of the State Philharmonic Orchestra in Poznań. He subsequently worked for three seasons in Bonn as Principal Conductor of the city’s opera theatre. In 1982, he founded the Polish Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra in Sopot, which he has led ever since and with which he has toured the United States (twice), China, Japan, and almost all the European countries. In 1993 he became Artistic Director of the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra. With this orchestra he has appeared in many prestigious venues in Europe, including Milan’s La Scala, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Alte Oper in Frankfurt, Philharmonie in Koeln and Duesseldorf, and Auditorium Lingotto in Torino. He has also developed a teaching career, mostly in Karlsruhe and Frankfurt-am-Main. As a guest conductor, he has appeared with numerous orchestras on tours in Germany, Switzerland, Mexico, Sweden and France, and at prestigious festivals with world famous soloists such as Claudio Arrau, Leonid Kogan, Henryk Szeryng, Mstislav Rostropovich, and Krystian Zimerman. Wojciech Rajski’s discography includes over 40 records for renowned labels such as EMI, Claves, Thorofon, KOCH, cpo, and Wifon.
