David Sotgiu comes from Perugia, where he received the Conservatory’s diploma in oboe. He began his vocal studies with Carmen Gonzales and then studied solo vocals with Stefano Rinaldi Miliani. He further perfected his technique with such famed artists as Renato Bruson, Ruggero Raimondi, Raina Kabaivanska, Veriano Lucchetti, Mietta Sighele.
He won the EU-sponsored 56th Adriano Belli International Vocal Competition for young singers at Spoleto’s Teatro Lirico Sperimentale.
For several years, he worked with the Cappella Musicale della Patriarcale Basilica di San Francesco of Assisi, with whom he performed 18th- and 19th-century pieces. As guest soloist of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale, he went on several tours to Canada, Hungary and Japan. In 2003, he made his debut in Cimarosa's opera Il matrimonio segreto at the Opera of San Marino; since 2004, he has appeared at the Opéra National du Rhin in Strasbourg; also in Paris and Lausanne. In the recent season, the artist took part in the world premiere of Carlo Boccadoro’s La nave a tre piani.
