Since its creation in 1945, it has performed over 370 works, premieres of works by contemporary Polish composers (H.M. Górecki, K. Penderecki, R. Palester) as well as those of the old masters, in more than 1700 concerts (including 300 abroad). The choir has accompanied numerous European orchestras, including the Wiener Symphoniker, the Beethovenhalle Orchester, the Orchestre Radiotelevision Belge, the Orchestre Radiotelevisione Italiana di Roma. It participated in 39 festivals throughout Europe and in celebrations of such significance as the Reunification of Germany, 1990, and the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, 1995.
The choir, which specialises in monumental oratorio works, also performs operas, from Mozart's Don Giovanni to the contemporary Black Mask by Penderecki, and a concert selection of world's most beautiful opera choruses and popular works: Ramirez's Missa Criolla, McCartney's Liverpool Oratorio, Webber's Requiem, Orff's Trionfi or Prokofiev's Alexander Nevski.
The ensemble boasts of its perfect performance of K. Penderecki’s Utrenia, a true musical and linguistic challenge; its collaboration with Poland’s major composer is of long standing. It has found its reflection in the dedication, to the Kraków choir, of Penderecki’s Stabat Mater.
