Chorus Sine Nomine
The declared focus of Chorus Sine Nomine (Vienna, Austria) since its foundation in 1991 by Johannes Hiemetsberger is its dedication to a cappella music. Its repertoire includes orchestral works from Monteverdi to Mahler as well as contemporary music.
Efforts to develop a homogenous and transparent sound were achieved by working with a fixed ensemble and were crowned by awards with first prizes at international choral competitions: in Tours (France, 1996), Spittal/Drau (Austria, 1997), "Ferdinand-Grossmann-Prize" (2000); “Let the peoples sing” (European Broadcasting Union, 2001).
In recent years the Chorus has collaborated with conductors such as Jordi Savall, Kristjan Järvi, Bertrand de Billy, Leonard Slatkin, and orchestras such as Le Concert des Nations, Camerata Salzburg, the Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna, the National Symphony Orchestra Washington and the Jeunesse World Orchestra. International performances take place in Europe, USA, Taiwan, RoC and in the Philippines.
