Famous about Beethoven

Vadim Brodski – violin

I think I won’t ever be tired of listening to the Fifth Symphony by Beethoven. It’s so great, so ideal, that every time I listen to it I find something else in that piece. It’s like an eminent book to which we come back many times and each time we find something different. I’ve been studying Beethoven’s scores recently. I’ ve found many eerie things in them. He is a genius. How to write music without having that possibility to hear it, to play it on the piano. He could hear everything with the help of his internal hearing. I have in my repertoire Violin concerto, Triple concerto, sonatas, quartets by Beethoven. I like to play them very much. But I prefer his symphonies much more. And also his piano concertos – they are fantastic. Only a genius could cerate something like that.

Jadwiga Rappe – alto

If I had to choose as a singer between Beethoven and Bach or Mahler, I would definitely choose the latter. But, in spite of the fact that Beethoven didn’t write many for my voice, I appreciate his music very much. I’ve performed his Missa Solemnis and Ninth Symphony many time of course. These are great pieces, music by e genius. Timelessness of his music and its deep humaneness prove that Beethoven was not only a distinguished composer but also an uncommon man.

Konstanty Andrzej Kulka – violin

Beethoven’s music expresses everything for me. I love Beethoven. I consider his Violin concerto D Major which I play very often one of the most eminent violin concertos ever written. The most fascinating things in that piece are the construction of the piece, its melodiousness, beautiful themes and also emotional side. The Concert emanates the positive world perception. I also like Beethoven’s sonatas for violin and piano, especially Spring sonata, which I play very often. As a listener I rather prefer symphonic music by Beethoven to his chamber music. I have a CD set with his all symphonies in many different performances. I listen to his great piano concertos as well. The music by Beethoven is universal and it can be understood by everybody, even by the layman. It is the gist of its uniqueness.
