Dave Brubeck Quartet – the jazz event of the year
23 November 2005, Warsaw
The 85th anniversary of the legendary jazzman Dave Brubeck will be celebrated during the special concert of the Dave Brubeck Quartet which will take place on 23 November 2005 in the National Philharmonic Hall in Warsaw. The concert will be a part of the last great European tour of the artists. The Dave Brubeck Quartet begins its tour of Europe on November 16 in Nuremberg, Germany, in a concert commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Nuremberg Trials. The Quartet will play 16 dates in Germany, Austria, Poland, Switzerland, Spain, and the UK, six of which are with symphony or chamber orchestra.
Brubeck, who disbanded his so-called “classic” Dave Brubeck Quartet (with Paul Desmond, Joe Morello and Eugene Wright) in 1967 so he could devote more time to working on large-scale choral and orchestral compositions, has actually never stopped performing. He continues to play 60-70 dates a year in the U.S., Great Britain and continental Europe, a schedule many artists half his age would envy.
